Ringo’s Drumming Story
When someone mentioned a drum set, most everyone pictures a Ludwig 4-piece drum kit played by non other that Ringo Starr!
Ludwig Drum sets have become synonymous to the drummer of the most successful and influential band of all time - The Beatles!
But not everyone knows that Ringo didn’t always play Ludwig drums. In fact his first drum kit was a used set that was purchased for him as a Christmas gift. Up until this time, Ringo had been playing biscuit tins and pieces of firewood.
Ringo first played the drums in February of 1957. In the summer of 1958 Ringo borrowed £46 from his grandfather, went to Frank Hessy’s Music store, and bought an Ajax single headed kit.
